Following a worldwide campaign, the Australian National Health & Medical Research Council (NHMRC) has released a hitherto unpublished 2012 draft report on homeopathy.
The report, which concludes that there is “encouraging evidence for the effectiveness of homeopathy”, was never released to the public but a subsequent review in 2015 was widely cited as scientific proof that homeopathy does not work. An extensive investigation by the Australian Homeopathic Association (AHA), combined with an in-depth scientific analysis of the review by the Homeopathy Research Institute (HRI), found evidence of serious procedural and scientific misconduct and revealed the existence of the first unseen NHMRC report.
The 2012 draft report is now available to view here. NHMRC CEO Prof Anne Kelso has also provided the following clarification on the findings of the 2015 Homeopathy Review and concluded that, “Contrary to some claims, the review did not conclude that homeopathy was ineffective.”
